About

About Zentriex

A small reference site about woodworking joinery and the hand tools used to make it.

Zentriex collects plainly written notes on foundational woodworking joints, the hand tools used to cut them, and the measuring and care habits that make wooden projects last. The focus is narrow on purpose: a few topics, explained clearly, rather than a broad catalogue.

What the site covers

The three guides describe common joints and where each is appropriate, the basic hand-tool kit and how to keep it sharp and rust-free, and the measuring and marking habits that keep parts square. Examples lean toward conditions common in Canada, where wide seasonal humidity swings affect both wood movement and tool storage.

How the notes are written

Each article describes methods and trade-offs in neutral terms. Where outside information is referenced, the links point to publicly available, authoritative sources such as encyclopaedic entries and the Forest Products Laboratory wood handbook. Figures are avoided unless they come from a reliable public source, and the site does not present invented statistics or studies.

Scope and limits

This is an informational reference, not a substitute for tool manufacturer instructions or local safety regulations. Techniques vary between traditions and shops; the descriptions here aim to be a clear starting point rather than the only correct method.
